23 Opening Day and Scholarship Day


Scholarship Day marks the first day of the season with revenues from the day's
specially priced ticket benefiting the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club

Series: Turkey Trot

A beautiful 5 mile run out to Strawberry
Park that begins and ends at the Steamboat Springs High School.

25 Light Up the Night Community
Tree Lighting

Kick off the Holiday Season with the annual community tree lighting, carol
singing, hot chocolate and even santa. After the Tree Lighting the fire truck
will dump hundreds of ping pong balls with special shopping discounts!

Come downtown to celebrate the holiday season. Lincoln Avenue is closed to traffic
allowing everyone to wander from store to store, view the gingerbread house
tour and vote for a favorite, watch the performances on the impromptu stage,
listen to Christmas music and carolers, and be a part of the Santa Parade.

23 Strings Music Festival- George Winston

Music from the holiday season by GRAMMY Award winning pianist, George Winston.
The concert will feature music from his 1982 platinum-selling recording,
December, along with other songs.

28 Desperados Ski Week Torchlight Parade

Again this year, the young ones get a chance to ski down the mountain and join
in the excitement as a special finale to the Desperados Ski Week program. The
Desperados Torchlight Parades are reserved for children signed up in the
Desperados Ski Week program, but the event is open to the public.

& Fireworks Display

Adaptive Camp

The Steamboat All-Mountain Adaptive Ski Camp combines instructor and volunteer
training, adaptive ski clinics, and a backcountry powder cat trip with
Steamboat Powdercats for adults with disabilities. With significant interest
last year, the camp is anticipating increased participating this year with
around 20 disabled participants, including special guests.

14-22 National Saftey Awareness
Week

The Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation enhances its company-wide strategic
initiative of safe and responsible skiing and riding with activities including:
mountain safety tips; special Steamboat Ski Patrol T-shirt;, back country
avalanche awareness; helmet checks; specials on helmet purchases; daily safety
messaging and more.

38th Annual Cowboy Downhill

The best event in Steamboat! Watch the chaos as rodeo cowboys try to make their
way down a mini slalom course to rope a girl, saddle a horse and make it the
finish line. Enjoy the bud light tent, and live music at the Bear River Grill!


 27 National Firefighters Hose
Race

Annual National Firefighters comes to town and the highlight is the fast-paced
hose race, where firefighters, each wearing full turnout protective gear, ski
down a slalom course linked together carrying a 50-foot length of 2 ½ inch hose
through the racecourse while avoiding other obstacles along the way.

8-12 99th Winter Carnival

Experience the oldest carnival west of the Mississippi and Steamboat has a special
twist on it. From the street events where kids on skis are pulled by horses to
the infamous lighted man. Don't miss this tradition!

Winter Soiree Gala with Steamboat Springs Orchestra

Save the date! Celebrate its 21st year anniversary at their annual Soiree
Gala on February 5th at 6pm in the Steamboat Grand. Tickets include wine
reception, silent auction, full dinner, musical performances and dancing.

The Telemark World Cup comes to Steamboat. The Steamboat Springs Winter Sports
Club hosts approximately 100 international telemark athletes as they compete in
all telemark events over 7 days.

A Valentine's Day concert with a whole lotta soul!  Touring together for
the first time, Ruthie (with her band) and Paul Thorn blend blues, rock,
gospel, folk, R&B and country music for a show that will have you on your
feet.  


TBA 11th Annual Wooden Ski
Rendezvous

Brought to you by the Friends of the Routt Backcountry, the 11th annual Wooden
Ski Rendezvous is a family event,featuring races on wooden skis and snowshoes,
pine tarring, vintage costumes, ski movies, music and dancing and a potluck
dinner on Sat. night.

Laissez Les Bons Temps Rouler-The good times are definitely ready to roll in Ski

26 Vertical Express for MS-
Steamboat Ski Area

This annual race raises more than $50,000 for the Can Do Center benefiting
patients of multiple sclerosis. Billy Kidd has always been on hand to support
his 1964 Olympic teammate, Jimmie Heuga, who battled MS until his passing in
the spring of 2010, in this very worthwhile cause.

1 Hole Shot Tour-
Steamboat Ski Resort

The slopes will see 100 boardercross and Skiercross athletes during the newest
and most exciting sport to hit the snow-the Nor Am Holeshot Tour. North America's top athletes, in men and women fields,
will battle each other and the mountain on one of the nation's best courses.
 


6-8 28th Annual Women's Ski Camp

7-12 Freestyle Junior Olympics-
Steamboat Ski Area

The Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club hosts 350 freestyle athletes for
competitions on Mt.
Werner
in Dual Moguls,
Single Moguls, Half Pipe, Slope Style and Aerials. The US' top junior athletes compete for
national honors.

10 Jumping/Nordic Combined Western Regional
Competitions- Howelsen Hill

Nordic Jumping & Nordic Combined Western Regional at Howelsen Hill will
host the nation's best J2 & J1 athletes, ages 14 through 19, as they
compete in Nordic jumping and cross country skiing.

10 Steamboat Pentathlon

Do you have what it takes to finish all 5 events: snowshoe, bike, alpine ski,
cross country ski and run. If not you can split into teams

Spring Concert with the Steamboat Orchestra

Lighten up your spring with the sounds of the Brahms "get inside the
music" a musical lecture that will welcome in Spring to the Mountains.

- Howelsen Hill

200 Alpine J4 skiers from across the country go full out in competitions on Mt. Werner
and Howelsen Hill in events including Giant Slalom and Slalom.

22 Stars Kids' Adaptive Camp

The STARS Kids' Adaptive Camp is a fun ski camp for youth (age 6-20) with
physical disabilities, new skiers, beginner skiers who need private lessons,
intermediate skiers who want to boost up skiing level, mono-skiers, 3-trackers,
4-trackers, visually impaired, few bi-skiers. The goal is simple: have FUN!,
make new friends, explore the ski resort, advance skiing skills, and experience
ski racing.

Ski 4 Yellow, which raised $75,000 during its inaugural year, returns to the
slopes to continue the fight against cancer in Ski Town, U.S.A.® Enjoy a
weekend on the slopes with friends, family and Olympians, highlighted by a free
live music concert in Gondola Square.

7 Annual Cody's Challenge -Steamboat
Ski Area

The 4th Annual Cody's Challenge, a randonee endurance ski race, on Steamboat
Ski Area. Participants will climb, traverse and descend a variety of trails
across the mountain under their own power. The Cody St. John Foundation is a
non-profit organization founded in memory of Cody St. John, who was a
professional patroller with the Steamboat

Annual Cardboard Classic & Springalicious

This wild and hilarious race features homemade cardboard crafts, constructed
only from cardboard, glue, string, water based paint, duct tape and masking
tape, racing down Stampede to a hysterical finish.   


15 Annual Splashdown Pond Skim &
CLOSING DAY

Steamboat's bravest (and maybe craziest) skiers/riders will attempt to cross an
ice-cold pond at the base of the mountain, while being judged on distance,
outfit creativity, and crowd response.
